Lagardère Travel Retail posts strong Q1 revenue increase despite sharp North Asia decline
With global air traffic having returned to pre-pandemic levels, Lagardère Travel Retail delivered an increase in revenue in the majority of its operating regions. North Asia, however, was a notable exception.
WHSmith said it has reached its “strongest-ever position as a global travel retailer” as performance in the channel continues to grow.
“The products are gender neutral, uncomplicated, uncompromising and they look great,” says Malin+Goetz Senior Vice President International Helena Sampson.

Located in Terminal 3, the one-stop convenience store offers a wide selection of products across various categories including chocolates, beverages, travel essentials, books, digital accessories and souvenirs, among others.
The new product is a ‘self-repair’ 10,000mAh PD powerbank, described as a superfast portable charging solution, which offers up to 50% recharge in about 20 minutes.
According to the travel essentials company’s CEO David Sternlight, the B-Corp certification aligns with Cabeau’s overarching values, mission and business goals.
The range is available with Ospree at eight airport stores, nationwide with WHSmith and at Shoppers Stop’s key domestic and travel retail locations.
Showcasing a strong Sense of Place, the openings of Elbow River Exchange, Frontier Provisions and InMotion feature local vendors, artists and popular global brands.
LagardèreAWPL, WHSmith and Avolta have signed up to the Travel Essentials Industry Support Panel for the event, which takes place in Melbourne on 22-24 July.
The upcoming arrivals include Lego, Brighton, Starbucks, Relay and local brands such as Mi Vida, Nalley Fresh, Eastern Market and Solid State Books.
Welcoming the agreement, the joint venture partnership (formed by the combination of Lagardère Travel Retail Pacific and Australian travel retailer AWPL in January 2022) pledged to deliver ‘next-generation’ travel essentials stores.
