Job Purpose:
The Island Retail Manager is responsible for achieving the island revenue targets by implementing effective and optimal sales strategies. The Island Retail Manager is also responsible for overseeing and effectively managing the operational and people management aspects of all stores in their respective island. The Island Retail Manager reports to the Retail Director, who is based in Willemstad, Curacao.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for Achieving Island Sales Targets
• Communicate and agree monthly targets to each store, ensure store sales targets are met and implement strategies as agreed to support retail sales growth
• Responsible for achieving key performance indicators for the Island including customer service, sales per customer and margins
• Drive sales through clear staff communications on business and store performance, new initiatives and other action plans

2. Responsible for “Best Stock” Levels Per Store
• Manage “best stock” levels on island and support Purchasing department buying
• Ensure smooth customs clearing and warehouse operation
• Ensure each store is effectively managing their product levels by following company inventory and stock levels procedures
• Accountable for controlling inventory procedures and ensuring stores and warehouse report any missing stock
• Ensure effective security measures are in place to control stock/theft, including cameras and security tag devices

3. Responsible for Island Retail Personnel
• Maintain staffing levels and quality to ensure excellent customer service (Includes assisting with recruiting, hiring and training employees)
• Ensure Store Managers are accurately completing all weekly time and attendance records for payroll and that all reports are submitted to Payroll according to company deadlines
• Ensure Store Managers report staff absences and effectively manage staff coverage

4. Responsible for People Management
• Provide effective and constructive performance feedback to direct reports through performance reviews quarterly
• Provide regular communication updates to direct reports
• Encourage a culture of coaching, professional development and self-improvement
• Implement agreed strategies for building the capability of Store Managers, sales staff and other direct reports

5. Other Miscellaneous Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain relationships with island business community to ensure positive and effective business operations (e.g. customs, local suppliers, business connections)
• Organise support/staff for HQ functions in local island market, including for HR, Marketing, logistics.
• Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers on the productivity of staff, product training, upcoming promotions, market trends and new product lines
• Maintain awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understand forthcoming customer initiatives and monitor what local competitors are doing
• Ensure all stores are following merchandise guidelines set by suppliers
• Ensure all customer service issues such as queries and complaints are being dealt with effectively
• Manage new store projects including planning and opening of new stores
• Control store expenses within budget guidelines
• Other tasks as directed by management

Experience and requirements:
• 3-5 years experience in managing multiple stores, preferable in luxury retail and/or perfumes & cosmetics
• Fluent in English and/or Dutch, Papiamento and/or Spanish is an advantage
• Previous working experience in travel retail/duty free industy is an advantage
• Educational level: Bachelor or MSc
• Ability and willingness to move to the designated Island, willingness to travel occasionally

Travel retail is the business undertaken in all the shops located in duty free areas or any areas dedicated to travelers (i.e. airports, ferries and border shops). For the Travel Retail Team of Perfetti Van Melle a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Area Manager Travel Retail. This Position is based in Singapore.

As an Area Manager Travel Retail you are sales responsible for the total Asian continent including Australia and New Zealand. You will help to accelerate a sustainable growth for our international accounts in the Asia Pacific Region. Your objective will be to signal and consider business opportunities with existing accounts and new prospects. Ensuring a consistent development of our brands across the area by building distribution, improving visibility and optimizing the Perfetti van Melle product assortment of your accounts will be your core business. As an Area Manager Asia you will report directly to the Manager Global Travel Retail.

As Area Manager Travel Retail Asia you will have the authority to manage the area within the target agreements at your discretion considering set procedures, methods and policies. Whilst working as the Area Manager Travel Retail Asia you will generate sales for all Asia accounts and reach the Area sales target. You will be responsible for your Profit and Loss account for the Asian region.

You will translate the Global Travel Retail strategy into a commercial strategy for the region by defining a detailed Sales plan for the area and for the individual Account Plans. You will manage the relationship with the customers, negotiate trade conditions and delivery terms and will formulate and implement in co-operation with the distributor/retailer a consumer oriented Brand Plan.
As Area Manager Travel Retail Asia you will provide accurate monthly area analysis with sell-in and sell-out figures, promotional activities, launches and the overall performance of clients.

Internally you will act as specialist of the Travel Retail Channel for the Asian region providing the organization with the necessary information.

Who we're looking for
To be successful in this role you will ideally have the following skills and attributes:
• Proven track record of 5+ years in Account Management within an international FMCG environment with at least one to three years of relevant experience in a similar function;
• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Marketing from a renowned Business School;
• Extensive marketing knowledge and know how, able to identify marketing opportunities, good experience in managing the marketing of a product;
• Strong sense of business acumen, having keenness and speed in understanding and deciding on business situations;
• Analytical power, translate figures into conclusions and decisions;
